Colite Technologies is a renewable energy solutions provider based in Columbia, South Carolina offering sustainable lighting and energy generation systems to commercial and industrial customers. Within 18 months of the launch of their rooftop solar portfolio, Colite Technologies has contracted, installed, and energized their first rooftop solar project.
The 62 kW system in Marietta, GA sits on the roof of an Extra Space Storage facility and generates clean electricity for daily operations. It will offset about 54% of the facility’s energy use throughout the year and lead to energy savings of over $10,000 per year. Additionally, the system will avoid 1,565 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions over its 25-year life.
Offsetting the facility’s electricity use with solar cuts their energy bill and environmental footprint in half. The system advances the sustainability goals of Extra Space Storage by fulfilling their target for more solar energy at their facilities. The ballasted racking system avoids any penetration to the roof while high performance components optimize energy production throughout the system. It requires minimal maintenance and will continue to produce clean energy for the next 25 years.
Rooftop solar systems are valuable investments for many commercial facilities looking to cut costs and meet sustainability goals simultaneously. Four additional projects have been contracted in 2021 and Colite Technologies expects significant growth of sustainable energy systems in the southeast.
