The following elements should be included on the bid a consumer receives from the solar installer or contractor:
- Total cost of installation from start to finish (including design and construction)
- Additional cost factors resulting from unique design considerations on the property (most installations will not require these)
- Breakdown of costs for equipment, labor, permits, and taxes
- Any applicable state and federal tax credits and other incentives
- Make and model number of equipment
- Warranty information
- Expected operation and maintenance costs
- Projected monthly, annual, and lifetime energy generation based on orientation, shading, etc. and estimated costs and savings
- Finance options: cash, loan, or lease (see the Financing a System section for more information)
